  1. burn out or fade away: the dead musician megathread

They're definitely bigger than "Dreams" and "Zombie" but admittedly those are the two I keep coming back to, No Need to Argue is pretty good but I never have a great compulsion to listen to it front to back.

Just realised now that the name of the search engine duckduckgo is derived from Duck Duck Goose. I thought it was "Duck, Duck, Go!"

Apart from the entire United States, the only place in the entire Anglosphere (CANZUK, USA, Ireland) where it's legal for civilians to carry around pepper spray is Western Australia. Most of the American expats I've spoken to about this were pretty upset when they found this out. Concealed Swiss army knives are a complicated subject because of their utility, foldability, and short length but the law on pepper spray is relatively clear (in the UK, at least).

    Hell yeah

Thomas Andrew Doyleโ€”Incineration Ceremony A bizarre new chapter in Doyle's career started last year and received almost no attention. Thomas Andrew Doyle is more commonly known as Tad Doyle, the frontman of the grunge band Tad and a few more obscure sludge metal bands after Tad's breakup. This album on the other hand sounds like a bombastic work of orchestral music (much of this could appear in a horror film) performed by Tad Doyle on a range of instruments but largely analog synthesiser. I think I prefer this side of him to that of the grunge rock/metal rocker which I've been more familiar with in the previous 30 years.

Stabscotchโ€”The Witness I actually bought it a while back, but I'm still impatiently awaiting its arrival. Only 20 or so copies were made (sold out) and they all look like this:

Everybody's a Fuckin Expert is coming up next so I've got that to look forward to. Five Shit and Shine records in 2017 seems like a bit much, I'm thinking I'll leave it at Total Shit and Some People Really Know How to Live (which so far I've just heard bits of) for now.
  10. What The Fuck Are You Listening To? How Is It? Thirsty?

Shit and Shineโ€”54 Synth-Brass, 38 Metal Guitar, 65 Cathedral Texan musician Craig Clouse was probably best known for being in Hammerhead before he left the United States for London, where he gained notoriety with a series of eight confounding noise records as "Shit & Shine" over the course of about five years, including the two masterpieces Ladybird and Jealous of Shit and Shine, ending with 229 2299 : Girls Against Shit in 2009. After this point I've lost track of his output, as I've come to associate post-2009 Shit and Shine with dancefloor grooves, indiscernible voices, obnoxious keyboards, and brickwalling (exhibit A being 2014's Powder Horn)โ€”not totally divorced from the earlier records in these respects, but kind of blending together in an indistinct fuzzy goop. The weirdest thing was vurt and Nakkinak becoming big fans of them in this period, during the early days of the annex. By now though there are twice as many post-2009 Shit and Shine records as there are earlier ones so I'm giving them a serious go, starting with this relatively acclaimed record from 2015. He made some Sun Ra-esque fusion jazz for his YouTube channel prior to this and it seems like that's rubbed off on this record of garbage keyboard jams.

There were actually a few. The biggest fan overall must surely be mattrainertje but you could be thinking of Kaaasgaaf.

The main lesson of Fire and Fury might end up inadvertently being that Steve Bannon had far too much ambition given his own abilities, and far too much hubris given his actual position as the Mercers' representative in government. The Mercers made him, they just unmade him, they can replace him at Breitbart.

In somewhat related news, Milo will represent himself pro se in his case against Simon & Schuster after the editor's comments went public. Something to look forward to.

Having read Fire and Fury I would have to say this was inevitable. Take the support of the Mercers away from him and he's no longer important.

At the best of times they're pretty enjoyable if not earth-shattering. The 5643 Song EP is a fun novelty and Morbid Florist might be their best record.
