Immigration is interesting.  Feel like it could be one of those things that generations in some distant future look back on and wonder how we could be so monstrous and inhumane to our fellow humans on the basis of imaginary boundaries.  Eating meat is another, but I love it so fuck it.

On the face of it, the biggest advantage of being a citizen of Germany as opposed to Canada is freedom of movement in the European Union.  They might have family or friends in Germany, maybe a few words of the language.  This is not a specifically German issue; most of Europe is in high demand at the moment especially with various conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa, and the citizenry are radically divided about how to deal with it.

http://politics.slashdot.org/story/15/08/06/0012217/tpp-copyright-chapter-leaks-website-blocking-new-criminal-rules-on-the-way

Michael Geist unpacks the leaked documents, noting the treaty includes anti-circumvention rules that extend beyond the WIPO Internet treaties, new criminal rules, the extension of copyright term for countries like Canada and Japan, increased border measures, mandatory statutory damages in all countries, and expanding ISP liability rules, including the prospect of website blocking for Canada.

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/spy-agency-whistle-blower-posted-top-secret-report-4chan-users-called-it-fake-gay-1514330

A whistle-blower anonymously published a highly sensitive report obtained from an Australian spy agency on the website 4chan, but his document was soon automatically deleted after it failed to gain much attention. Those 4chan users who did view the document dismissed it as "fake and gay". The Defence Intelligence Organisation assessment contained information that could have been exploited by foreign intelligence services and risked causing serious harm to Australia's national security interests, according to the Australian Department of Defence.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/07/world/asia/mh370-families-debris.html

David Griffin, an Australian scientist who has mapped ocean currents in the area, said on Thursday that he believed more debris from Flight 370 could wash up on Madagascar, the much larger island to the west of Réunion.

“There could be a very large amount of debris floating, or a very small amount,” said Mr. Griffin, who is with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization in Australia. “I am slightly surprised that something turned up at Réunion, rather than Madagascar, because Madagascar is so much bigger.”

The region has been in the grip of intense wind and rain storms.

Highly unlikely this was anything but an unfortunate accident. Unless you know someone who can control the weather.

psycho, blasphemy is pretty bad for your soul. If you have a soul. There's a risk. Maybe the risk is low, but if it turns out to be true, it's infinitely bad for you, so 0.000000001 x infinite = infinite. So the risk is pretty much estimated at infinitely important to consider.

My second comment for this is that climate change and anti-religion could get pretty ugly. You know how republicans and Jews tend to not avoid climate change? Future people could be all like "blame religion, self-fulfilling apocalyptic prophecies did this" and hate on religious people, and there would be lots of confusion and despair. I'm just hoping the future will blame general stupidity, not specific cultures or beliefs. But general, human fallibility. <3

Take care, gois.

edit: listened to Moby while I wrote that lol

So Jeremy Corbyn became leader of the Labour Party (UK) by a big margin.  A selection of angry centrist thinkpieces that immediately followed his election:

Corbyn is passionate, at times angry, therefore Donald Trump is a good basis for comparison

Jeremy Corbyn is not a woman so his election stinks of "brocialism"

Jeremy Corbyn is "the left's Sarah Palin"; from the same writer, today is the day the Labour Party died
