In 1956, Samuel Shenton, a signwriter by trade, created the International Flat Earth Society as a successor to the Universal Zetetic Society and ran it as "organizing secretary" from his home in Dover, England.[7][14] Given Shenton's interest in alternative science and technology, the emphasis on religious arguments was less than in the predecessor society.[15]

When satellite images showed Earth as a sphere, Shenton remarked: "It's easy to see how a photograph like that could fool the untrained eye".

The Flat Earth Society's most recent world model is that humanity lives on a disc, with the North Pole at its center and a 150-foot (45 m) high wall of ice, Antarctica, at the outer edge.[21] The resulting map resembles the symbol of the United Nations, which Johnson used as evidence for his position.

Charles Kenneth Johnson was born in San Angelo, Tex., on July 24, 1924. Before moving to the Mojave Desert, he was an airplane mechanic in San Francisco for 25 years.

He corresponded with Samuel Shenton, an Englishman, who led the small society. Mr. Shenton specified before his death in 1972 that leadership of the society be passed on to Mr. Johnson, who was not a member but had doubted that the earth was round since an elementary school teacher unsuccessfully tried to teach him about gravity.

Science Digest said in a 1980 article that Mr. Johnson had ''a wry sense of humor and a booming laugh.'' He called Copernicus, who first theorized that a round earth revolved around the sun, ''Co-pernicious.''

At least one account reported a wolverine's apparent attempt to steal a kill from a black bear, although the bear won what was ultimately a fatal contest for the wolverine.[22] In another account, a wolverine killed a polar bear.[23][24]

Mating and reproduction

Successful males will form lifetime relationships with two or three females, which they will visit occasionally, while other males are left without a mate.[25]

Work as Chief Mouser

Within a month of his arrival at Downing Street, anonymous sources described Larry as having "a distinct lack of killer instinct."[12] Larry made his first kill – a mouse – on 22 April 2011.[13] Later that year was revealed that Larry was spending more time sleeping than hunting for mice, and spending time in the company of a female cat, Maisie.[14]At one point in 2011, mice were so endemic in Downing Street that the Prime Minister resorted to throwing a fork at a mouse during a Cabinet dinner.[14] On 28 August 2012 Larry made his first killing of a mouse in public, dropping the creature on the lawn in front of Number 10.[15]

In the music video, Cassie comes in with her phone which is playing part of the chorus to "Me & U" while improvising some lyrics that were not in the original song. She puts the song on and begins to dance and sing along, hurting herself while doing a spinning move, changing her outfit, and then being able to successfully complete the spinning move later on.

The Good Neighbor policy was the foreign policy of the administration of United States President Franklin Roosevelt towards Latin America. Although the policy was implemented by the Roosevelt administration, President Woodrow Wilson had previously used the term—but subsequently went on to invade Mexico.

on Britain's nazi king:

On 16 November 1936, Edward invited British Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin to Buckingham Palace and expressed his desire to marry Wallis Simpson when she became free to remarry. Baldwin informed him that his subjects would deem the marriage morally unacceptable, largely because remarriage after divorce was opposed by the Church of England, and the people would not tolerate Simpson as queen.[59] As king, Edward was the titular head of the Church of England, and the clergy expected him to support the Church's teachings.

Edward proposed an alternative solution of a morganatic marriage, in which he would remain king but Simpson would not become queen. She would enjoy some lesser title instead, and any children they might have would not inherit the throne. This too was rejected by the British Cabinet[60] as well as other Dominion governments,[61] whose views were sought pursuant to the Statute of Westminster 1931, which provided in part that "any alteration in the law touching the Succession to the Throne or the Royal Style and Titles shall hereafter require the assent as well of the Parliaments of all the Dominions as of the Parliament of the United Kingdom."[62] The Prime Ministers of Australia (Joseph Lyons), Canada (Mackenzie King) and South Africa (J. B. M. Hertzog) made clear their opposition to the king marrying a divorcée;[63] their Irish counterpart (Éamon de Valera) expressed indifference and detachment, while the Prime Minister of New Zealand (Michael Joseph Savage), having never heard of Simpson before, vacillated in disbelief.[64] Faced with this opposition, Edward at first responded that there were "not many people in Australia" and their opinion did not matter.[65]

Gable has been criticized for altering critical aspects of a script when he felt that the script would not fit in with his image. Screenwriter Larry Gelbart, as quoted by James Garner [75] once stated that Gable, "...would not go down with the submarine [referring to Run Silent Run Deep (1958), where the movie ended differently from the book on which it was based], because Gable doesn't sink."

Eli Wallach, in his autobiography,[76] also states that Wallach's most dramatic scene in The Misfits was cut from the movie after it had been filmed over several takes. This scene depicts Wallach's character (who secretly loves the character played by Marilyn Monroe) being emotionally crushed when he visits her, hoping to propose to her, and instead sees her with Gable's character. Both Gable and Monroe are offscreen, and Wallach's heartbreak is indicated by his dropping the rose bouquet he had brought for her. Gable ordered the scene removed because he felt that his character would never steal a woman from another man.
