Heteronormative cis-gendered cabbage

re: the latinx thing, i see it as having multiple applications. yes, people use it to describe themselves who consider themselves agender or whatever, but also sometimes it may be useful to refer to a person either in the generic or without wanting to assume their gender, and in that case either latino or latina could be assuming their gender, OR could be seen as disregarding people of a different gender than the one which you chose to refer to.

and by that last bit i mean the usage of "Latinos" as a term referring to people of the Latin American community of all genders still comes across as masculine-centric, or at least this is what I understand from reading what people with more stake in it have to say about it?

as far as "how many genders" i am with ethan on this, and feel like that isn't really a relevant question, and it's better to address the fact that gender is a construct, which doesn't mean it isn't "real" but I consider it to be somewhat fluid, a spectrum perhaps like sexuality??

It's the same situation as race, really. It's completely a social construct, there is no scientific justification for racial categories. BUT, because of the historical and ongoing implications of this bullshit racialization of humanity, it has to be contended with because the consequences for society are very real. The ideological shapes the material, as Lacan reminds us :sniff:

yeah this is a real issue where i have some reservations myself. it is masculine centric but the alternative is saying "latinos y latinas" which, because of use and context, feels redundant as fuck in regular speech (when i want to say "my friends" i don't want to have to say "my female and male friends" every time). but i don't mind it when someone chooses to express themselves that way

Gender is distinct from biological sex, it's a completely social construct. More than two genders exist and have existed in various cultures. I don't have any opinion on how many genders there are or can be, and I'm not really bothered by the ways people choose to describe and express gender, because it's really just a form of shorthand for societal roles and expectations.

i agree with everything here. i guess i'm still feeling :psyduck: about this

“My only time off during rehearsals – every Sunday I would have eight friends over and we would just watch Ru. I mean every single series of RuPaul’s Drag Race. I mean every series. This is my life outside of this play. I am a gay man right now just without the physical act – that’s all,”

He then clarified:
“As far as I know, I am not a gay man. Maybe I’ll have an awakening later in my life, which I’m sure will be wonderful and I’ll get to explore that part of the garden, but right now I’m secluded to my area, which is wonderful as well."

Personally i hate all males, i dont give a flying fuck how they identify or how long their hair is or what pronoun they like. Males are males.

And trans males are males, and behave exactly like so: demanding access to female only spaces even through brutal force, demanding that lesbians fuck them, erasing female struggle, the typical male entitlement to womens spaces and bodies, the typical violent response to women's words and resistance...they are males through and through and no amount of make up and hormones will erase the male socialization.

If youre a woman, then i ask that you try to learn and understand why i and other women have this perspective. We didnt wake up one day thinking "from now on ill hate transwomen". Woman is not an identidy. It is a lived reality, that all people born female go through. Saying a woman can opt out of being oppressed by not identifying as women makes no sense. Can child brides in middle east claim theyre not woman to escale forced marriage? Can baby girls identidy out of being women in order to escape female genital mutilation? Can a female fetus not be aborted if they dont identify as woman? Will men ask us if we identidy as women before drugging us and raping us at college parties? NO. Women are oppressed and subjugated for our biological reality - our body. And we are oppressed by men, males.

An oppressor CANNOT identify out of it and become the oppressed.

I bet you do a lot of mental gymnastics to explain why a whitw perso

How is this even a debate in 2017

Just get rid of "girls'" uniforms and make everyone wear troosers, polos and jumpers like every other industry that uses a uniform. I'm sure they won't stop making jailbait porn so your utter paedos like me and Maze can still get our kicks.
