Well, I got a 4-pack of Southern Star Le Mort Vivant (disappointing) and a bomber of a Firestone Walker dry hopped saison. Also a bottle of wine barrel aged Prarie Noir. Found some Hoptimum today.

not sure what the difference is tbh, but Left Hand Milk Stout is probably my favorite, but dogfish head's world wide stout and brooklyn's black chocolate stout are some good ones off the top of my head as well

those are good ones. the World Wide was delicious iirc but I had it at a 'pay $15 and drink all the craft beer you want' event and I wasn't filing new memories very well.

One of my favorite porters is Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald ... really like the London Porter too. This can describe the difference better than I can.

so tl;dr a stout is a particularly strong porter... good to know.

Just picked up bombers of New Belgium Transatlantic Kriek, the new Enjoy By and a growler of No Label Forbidden Lavender. Making bock and brown sugar marinated sirloin fajitas with some friends. Just split a bottle of Westvletern 12 and now drinking the Forbidden Lavender. Not bad for this low tier craft brewery.

Speaking of stouts, anyone ever have the Vampire Slayer from Clown Shoes?

A m8 bought it while he was waiting for me to arrive at the bar, and he hated it so I got to drink it. It had that almost chemical taste that's in the Rogue beers, but otherwise it was alright, and it's a solid 10% abv!

Well it is, ain't it?

Montreal's having its annual beer festival this weekend and I've got a press pass, which means unlimited beer for the drinking!

I will report back on the craziness of the craft brews, if not too wasted.

Montreal - I'm assuming it's a US only beer?

I'm gonna check and see if the festival I'm going to this weekend has a booth for those guys.

Edit: Nope, fuck. Ah well, next time I'm in the US, I s'pose.

I haven't tried that one yet. Was underwhelmed by the Smoke on the Bayou.
